    Speaker:  Leah den Bok, photographer, author
    Title: "But Still We Can Do Something..."

    Leah den Bok is a photographer dedicated to sharing the stories of people experiencing homelessness through her ongoing project, Humanizing The Homeless. Her work has taken her to cities around the world—including Kolkata, Brisbane, and Mallorca—where she documents the personal struggles and resilience of those living on the streets. Through exhibitions and public talks, she continues to raise awareness and challenge stereotypes surrounding homelessness.

    Leah's work has been featured by major media outlets such as the BBC, CBS, and CBC, and she has spoken at events like WE-DAY (2016), Women of the World Festival in Brisbane (2018), and She Talks in Ontario. Leah is the recipient of several awards recognizing her impact, including the IDRF Youth Impact Award (2018), the Murray Clarkson Award (2019), the SNAP Photo Competition (2020), and the Ascend Rising Star of the Year Award (2020).

    Speaker:  Neil Crone—Actor / Improviser / Writer
    Title: My Life in Canadian Film and TV

    Neil is an Emmy-nominated actor and voice artist known for roles in Paw Patrol, Thomas & Friends, Ghosts, Murdoch Mysteries, and CBC’s Endlings. He voiced Fred Tupper in Little Mosque on the Prairie and currently stars in GAC’s When Hope Calls. A Second City alum and Canadian Comedy Award winner, Neil is also a published author, columnist, and cancer survivor who speaks on the healing power of laughter.

    Speaker: Catherine Smart
    Title: Living Better with Parkinson's

    Andrew has recently retired from a 40-year career in project management. Andrew was a project management and development professional with extensive experience in project management, business development, client services and account management, team motivation and coordination. Considered a sound general manager, with full abilities in all aspects of project and team management, design and engineering team coordination, project finance and contracts management, construction management, project delivery and contract close out. Andrew has lived in the South Georgian Bay area for 23 years. During this period Andrew was a senior team member of Intrawest Resort Development having successfully developed the resort village located at Blue Mountain. Andrew was also a board director, board chairman and president of the Georgian Triangle Development Institute, a real estate advocacy and advisory organization established in the 1970’s. In the 10-year period before Andrew’s retirement he was a senior project manager for Starwood Hotels managing new hotel development and comprehensive renovations of existing hotels across North America. Andrew was diagnosed to have Parkinson’s in the spring of 2020. While his symptoms are relatively mild, the disease continues to progress inspiring Andrew to be involved with treatment research and best practices to living well with Parkinson’s.



    Sarah Rody-Spencer brings over 26 years of administrative and project management experience and 13 years in the healthcare field, specifically dedicating the last 10 years to hospice palliative care, end-of-life care, and those living with life-limiting illnesses. Sarah proudly and successfully led three Accreditations through Hospice Palliative Care Ontario gaining the organization high recognition for being the center of excellence. Sarah understands the challenges and frustration that come when you have been diagnosed with a debilitating disease and is very much looking forward to helping our Community to live a better life. Sarah is excited to contribute her attention to detail, knowledge, and experience to the Living Better with Parkinson’s team and the community as a whole. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor adventures as well as volunteering at St. Luke’s Church Community Food Bank.

    Speaker: Jarvis Strong, Escarpment Corridor Alliance
    Title: Ecological Corridors: A Critical New Tool For Conservation—Globally and Locally

    Jarvis Strong, Executive Director, Escaprment Corridor Alliance:
    Jarvis joined the ECA as the inaugural ED in March 2023. He has nearly 10 years of experience as a nonprofit Executive Director and has lived in the South Georgian Bay area since 2012. Before coming to the area Jarvis spent over 10 years managing summer camps and outdoor education organizations for children and youth. Previous to the ECA, Jarvis has led other charities including Camp Quality Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Collingwood YMCA. Jarvis has an HBA from the University of Waterloo in Recreation & Parks.
